So much time decorating for the holidays...then to take it all down...I'm not ready!!
We had a great time snowshoeing at White Pass...it was beautiful...and one of the reasons why we love Washington State.

We took a trip to "Secret Haven" over the weekend while in Utah (mom, Mikell, Heidi, and I) and I bought these fun pine cones on my pumpkin, the large glittered pine cone, and the shiny crystal picks. Then I glittered my pumpkin with copper colored glitter...what did you do with yours Mikell???
I planted this vine from a little start and every year it gets bigger and bigger...it blooms every October...and this picture only shows about half of the blooms that are open.
I have no idea what the name of the vine is, but it makes me happy!

I am sooo sooo glad I held out...I can't believe I found this fabulous vintage drapery fabric at Yesterday's Village...even matches the wall paint and sofa...I'll back it with some cream fabric to give it a little extra body (maybe it won't need it, it's a pretty good weight) and VOILA!!! It's perfect!!! 
Enough to cover six chairs and make pillows to boot!!! Awesome! I'll post the finished product later...now I'm off on a date night...dinner and a movie...

A fun little consignment shop...retails for $477 online...but I got a steal for $175...$25 retro hanging light to follow...I love it!
I needed a change in my dining room...found this wonderful table and chairs for a real bargain (375.00 - no tax) it was too white so I repainted it a creamy color to match my moldings...took off the chair cushions and going tomorrow to find some bright new material to make seat covers...I think I will really like the new look...stayed tuned and I will post the finished product!!! (Double click the picture and you can see the dimensions better).

My new mailbox...For all the mothers that I love...especially my daughter Heidi, my nieces, and all the mothers who are yet to be...
I painted and caulked the risers and dad is putting on the stair treads today...he's doing an awesome job and I can't wait! The stair treads look so much darker in this picture than what they are...and the risers look white, but are creamy in color...the stain is english chestnut and it is a really rich dark golden brown...the picture doesn't do it justice! Also, don't look too closely at the sides, they kind of got scuffed up when putting the treads down. I will need to go back and sand and touchup... 
I think I might be back on the bandwagon...ran 4.9 miles today...but it was a heck of a lot easier with this...try downloading some oldies, i.e. "Jessie's Girl" by Rick Springfield...I guarantee it will get you movin'!!
Taking 30+-year-old carpet off the stairs was interesting...they had glued the carpet to the stair treads! So that is what was flying down on everything in the closet when the kids were trampling down the stairs! Dad made a nice diversion...maybe we should leave it there...it would make a great slippery slide for Halle, Cole, William and Andrew! You should see us going up and down walking on each side of the stringers. This will be a job, but has to be done and quick!!!
When we took the carpet off there was no kind of finished edge between the stairs and wall. After a few failed attempts, dad finally cut a template that worked! He did an awesome job...working in a house with so many imperfections i.e. crooked walls, slightly unlevel areas, etc. is no easy job!
A good portion of the risers are in place and now I need to caulk all the gaps and paint them...staining the treads today...stay tuned...they're going to be awesome!
My morning picks...a few daisies, some yarrow, a variety of brown-eyed susans, and of course my beautiful blue vase that Blake brought home from his mission to Poland...thank you Blake...
Yup, pretty much the perfect summer day... Joni, thank you for the darling addition to my garden...I love it!
The flowers won't last forever...but I'm sure enjoying them while they are here! Now, I'm off to other things...namely, spraying the house down and washing all my windows...have a wonderful and blessed day!
